Before starting my International Master in Marketing at EADA Business School, I knew the program had a strong reputation but I did not fully realize just how intense the first semester would be. Looking back now, I can honestly say that the first trimester has been challenging, but at the same time, it has been incredibly rewarding, and absolutely worth the effort.
An International Classroom at EADA
One of the first things I noticed was the international and dynamic classroom environment. Students come from many different countries, cultures, and academic backgrounds. This diversity makes discussions more engaging and challenging, especially in a field like marketing where perspectives differ greatly across markets. It also means that you are constantly exposed to new ways of thinking, which pushes you to question your own assumptions.
High Academic Expectations from Day One
Academically, the expectations at EADA are high from the very beginning. The first semester is intense, with a fast- pace and a strong focus on preparation, punctuality, and active participation. Being on time and fully present in class is not just encouraged - it is expected. At first, this pressure can feel challenging, but it quickly becomes clear why it matters. These expectations create a strong classroom dynamic where everyone contributes, and learning becomes a shared responsibility.
Case-based Learning
The case-based learning methodology plays a major role in this experience. You are constantly challenged to analyze real business situations, apply theory to practice, and express your ideas clearly. This approach forces you to stay focused, follow the discussions closely, and come prepared for every session. Even on days when motivation is low, the structure of the program pushes you to engage and as a result, you learn a lot in a very short amount of time.
Leadership Development Beyond the Classroom
An additional, highly valuable aspect of this experience has been my participation in leadership sessions held at EADA’s residential training campus in Collbató. These gatherings have given me insights into leadership styles, teamwork, and self-awareness - skills that are essential in marketing but difficult to learn from textbooks alone. I’ve met people from other study lines, built new friendships, and learned about how different colleagues approach challenges in both professional and social settings. These sessions have reinforced collaboration, broadened my perspective, and reminded me that learning doesn’t only happen in lectures - it also happens when you engage with others in different contexts.
Studying and Living in Barcelona
Beyond the academic challenges, adapting to life in Barcelona is another important part of the experience. Finding accommodation can be demanding, especially at the beginning, but once settled, the city offers an exceptional student lifestyle. Barcelona has a very social culture that makes it easy to connect with others. Sharing tapas and sangria after long study days, going for walks in Montjuïc or other parks, spending time at the beach, or enjoying a glass of wine at sunset with classmates quickly becomes part of everyday life.
This balance between an intense academic environment and a vibrant city lifestyle is what makes the experience at EADA unique. The strong social atmosphere and excellent quality of life complement the academic rigor, making the overall experience both rewarding and enjoyable.
Looking back at my first semester, I realize how much I have experienced. The program constantly pushes you outside your comfort zone, but in a constructive way. It forces you to stay disciplined, engaged, and open to new challenges. Although the semester has been intense, it has also been deeply motivating and rewarding.
If I could give one piece of advice to future students, it would be this:
If you are considering a Master in Marketing at EADA Business School, be prepared to work hard, but also be prepared to grow faster than you expect, both professionally and personally.
